Leather Care
A few simple habits help keep your leather bag, journal cover or accessory in good condition. Always check the product listing for its leather type and finish; care needs can vary.
Everyday cleaning
Remove surface dust with a soft, clean, dry cloth. For a small mark on smooth leather, test a barely damp cloth on a hidden area first and wipe gently. Avoid soaking, vigorous rubbing and abrasive cloths. Suede, nubuck and specialty finishes need suitable care products and methods.
Condition carefully
Choose a conditioner suitable for your item’s leather and finish, and follow the conditioner’s instructions. Test a small amount on an inconspicuous area and allow it to dry fully before treating the rest of the item. Conditioners can darken leather or change its appearance.
Apply sparingly with a soft cloth rather than directly onto the product. Do not apply smooth-leather conditioners to suede or nubuck unless the product specifically permits it. If you are unsure which finish you have, contact us with the product link and a photograph.
If your leather gets wet
Blot moisture gently with a soft cloth and allow the item to air-dry at room temperature. Keep it away from heaters, hair dryers and direct sunlight. Do not assume a leather bag is waterproof; protect electronics and paper from rain.
Storage & shape
- Store in a cool, dry, ventilated place away from direct sun.
- Use a breathable fabric cover and avoid sealed plastic bags.
- Lightly fill an empty bag with clean tissue or a soft cloth to support its shape.
- Avoid overloading compartments or forcing zippers closed.
Natural marks & patina
Leather may show grain differences and variations in colour. With use, some finishes soften, darken or develop a patina. Surface scuffs may blend into the finish over time, but deep scratches, ink and stains may need specialist attention. Avoid trying household cleaners, alcohol, acetone or bleach.
Care for journals & hardware
Keep journal pages dry and apply any suitable leather treatment only to the cover, away from paper. Wipe metal hardware with a dry, soft cloth. If a fastening sticks or a seam comes loose, stop forcing it and ask us for guidance.
